The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said it has identified individuals allegedly involved in a supposed plot linked to statements made by Vice President Sara Duterte against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag said some of the suspects are reportedly members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, but declined to provide further details due to an ongoing investigation.
The NBI also presented Duterte’s past remarks, including statements made during public events and press conferences, as part of a broader pattern of alleged threats.
It said these were being assessed alongside earlier findings that her November 2024 comments may constitute inciting to sedition and grave threats.
Duterte previously denied that her statements were intended as personal threats, and the impeachment complaints against her cite these remarks as part of the case. The NBI said it is awaiting the Department of Justice’s resolution on its findings while continuing its investigation.
