Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has been awarded the Hans T. Sy Leadership Award by Autism Society Philippines in recognition of her efforts to promote an inclusive community for individuals on the autism spectrum.
The organization cited her programs such as the QC Kabahagi Center, the inclusive Alternative Learning System (ALS), and specialized employment training for persons with disabilities.
QC’s active participation in World Autism Acceptance Month, improved digital accessibility services, and partnerships with various groups were also highlighted.
The recognition reflects the city’s continued push for programs that support persons with autism and their families.
It also underscores Quezon City’s commitment to inclusive governance, where no one is left behind in development.
