The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Thursday that the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) signed a memorandum of agreement with the Villar Group for the LRT-1 Las Piñas station.
Under the agreement, the Villar Group will provide about 4,465 square meters of land for the LRT-1 South (Cavite) Extension project.
LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera said the donation will save public funds and help speed up the project’s completion.
The agreement is also expected to facilitate the remaining works of the LRT-1 South Extension, which aims to cut travel time between Baclaran in Parañaque and Bacoor, Cavite, to 25 minutes from 1 hour and 10 minutes.
The extension is expected to serve an additional 300,000 passengers daily, with construction in the area potentially starting 30 days after the MOA signing.
