President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has approved the official aviation insignia of the Philippine Army, formally establishing a symbol of identity for its growing aviation arm.
The insignia, cleared by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, reflects the unit’s expanding role in air mobility, disaster response, and combat support.
Philippine Air Force reservist Col. Michael Odylon L. Romero was named the first recipient of the Army Aviation Service Insignia, making him the first awardee outside the regular Army.
Officials said Romero was chosen for his contributions to the Armed Forces modernization program, humanitarian missions, and support for air mobility operations nationwide.
The recognition highlights the integration of civilian aviation expertise with military operations to strengthen national defense and disaster response capabilities.
