Batangas 2nd District Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro praised President Marcos’ ongoing efforts to address hunger and poverty, highlighting the administration’s coordinated approach through agencies like the DA, DSWD, DOLE, and TESDA.
She noted that a recent survey showed self-rated poverty among Filipinos dropped to 37 percent in December 2025, down from 54 percent in September, even as involuntary hunger rose to 18 percent from 11 percent.
Luistro emphasized the importance of continuing these programs, stressing that challenges such as weather disturbances persist but government resilience can help reduce poverty and hunger.
She clarified that the survey reflects personal experiences rather than political sentiment, arguing that self-rated poverty is the most accurate measure of how people feel.
Luistro urged sustained efforts, saying the government must persist in its interventions to improve the lives and employability of Filipinos nationwide.
