Senator Loren Legarda urged government agencies to fully implement key health and welfare laws she authored, highlighting their importance in protecting Filipinos from birth to adulthood.
She cited the Newborn Screening Act of 2004 and the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention Act of 2009, emphasizing early detection and treatment of disabilities.
Legarda also pointed to her work expanding benefits for persons with disabilities under laws like RA 10070, RA 10754, and mandatory PhilHealth coverage under RA 11228.
She stressed that all hospitals and health facilities must carry out these programs as mandated by the Department of Health.
Legarda further emphasized the importance of treating persons with disabilities with dignity and using respectful language in all communications.
