Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said there is still a possibility that Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson could return as chairman of the Senate blue ribbon committee.
Sotto revealed that efforts are ongoing to convince Lacson to reconsider his resignation, with a meeting scheduled before the end of October to discuss requests for house arrest by sacked engineers.
Lacson resigned earlier this month amid disagreements over the committee’s investigation into flood control project anomalies, but vowed to continue fighting corruption.
Currently, Senator Erwin Tulfo is the acting chair of the committee.
Sotto emphasized that most senators want Lacson to return, hoping for a positive resolution.
