JOLO REVILLA COMMENDS MARCOS’ DIRECTION ON TAX RELIEF

House Labor and Employment Committee Chair Jolo Revilla welcomed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call for greater tax relief for Filipino workers, saying it provides Congress with a clear direction to advance pending tax measures.

Revilla urged lawmakers to fast-track proposals to raise the annual income tax exemption threshold, including his bill to increase it from P250,000 to P400,000, although he expressed willingness to adopt the President’s proposed P350,000 threshold.

His measure also proposes raising the tax-free ceiling for 13th-month pay and other bonuses from P90,000 to P150,000.

Revilla said the proposed tax relief would help workers cope with rising living costs by increasing their take-home pay.

He added that stronger household spending could offset any short-term revenue losses by boosting economic activity and expanding the tax base.
