The International Criminal Court (ICC) has appointed three medical experts to assess former President Rodrigo Duterte’s fitness to stand trial.
The experts, specializing in forensic psychiatry, neuropsychology, and geriatric neurology, will determine if any medical conditions affect Duterte’s ability to participate in pre-trial proceedings.
Their report is due by October 31, after which the defense, prosecution, and victims’ counsel can submit observations.
Duterte’s defense claims he suffers cognitive decline, while the prosecution and victims oppose delaying the trial.
Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte expressed prayers for her father’s good health and interim release during a visit to Pangasinan.
