Senator Risa Hontiveros filed a resolution seeking a Senate probe into the recent Zamboanga school shooting and the growing violence involving minors.
She noted that the firearms used were owned by the suspect’s father, a Bureau of Customs employee.
Hontiveros also raised concerns over the shooting being livestreamed and the rapid spread of unverified information online, which could trigger panic or copycat acts.
She said the incidents highlight the need to address possible online grooming of minors for violent acts.
Hontiveros also plans to expand a proposed child online protection bill to give authorities stronger tools to investigate and prevent such violence.
