Water bills for Metro Manila consumers will increase next month after regulators approved rate adjustments for Maynilad Water Services Inc. and Manila Water Co. Inc. due to peso-dollar movements.
Maynilad’s rate will rise by 24 centavos per cubic meter starting Oct. 1, while Manila Water’s rate will increase by eight centavos per cubic meter.
The hikes will mean additional charges of up to P5.19 for Maynilad customers and P1.53 for Manila Water customers using 30 cubic meters a month.
Meanwhile, diesel prices could increase by P2 to P2.50 per liter and gasoline by P4.50 to P5 per liter next week due to higher global oil prices.
In contrast, Meralco cut its electricity rate by P0.0409 per kilowatt-hour in September, bringing the rate for a typical household to P14.7424 per kWh.
