The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will ban electric tricycles, or e-trikes, from major Metro Manila roads starting Jan. 2, including EDSA, C-5, Roxas Boulevard, and the Quirino–Magallanes–SLEX route.
The move, mandated by the MMDA, aims to improve road safety by keeping slow-moving vehicles off high-speed, high-traffic roads.
LTO Chief Markus Lacanilao said the agency will coordinate with local governments to create safe and suitable routes for e-trikes.
Law enforcers will be deployed to ensure compliance and inform motorists of the rules.
Operators caught on prohibited roads may face fines or vehicle impoundment.
