The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) met with flood control experts from the academe on Wednesday to discuss long-term solutions to the country’s flooding problem.
The meeting, held at the DPWH main office in Manila, was prompted by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order to address flooding immediately.
Secretary Vince Dizon said the agency aims to develop a science-based flood control plan through coordination with experts and other government agencies.
Participants included Dr. Alfredo Lagmay of UP NOAH, Dr. Guillermo Tabios III of UP, and DENR Undersecretary Carlo Primo David, with discussions also focusing on water resources management.
Dizon added that the National Irrigation Administration will be invited to future meetings to further coordinate efforts in managing water resources.
