DELA ROSA SEEKS SC PROTECTION AGAINST ICC ARREST WARRANT ENFORCEMENT

Sen. Ronald dela Rosa has asked the Supreme Court to stop the government and former senator Antonio Trillanes IV from arresting him, seeking a temporary restraining order against actions linked to an International Criminal Court warrant.

In a 117-page filing, Dela Rosa also urged the High Court to bar agencies such as the DOJ, DILG, NBI, and PNP from detaining or surrendering him, arguing that any enforcement must first undergo Philippine judicial review.

His camp said the petition does not seek immunity from accountability but insists that foreign or international warrants must be enforceable only after compliance with Philippine law and constitutional safeguards.

The request follows reports of an attempted service of an ICC warrant and a separate shooting incident inside the Senate on May 13 involving law enforcement presence.

The Supreme Court has yet to act on the plea as the legal dispute over jurisdiction and arrest authority continues.
