Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla has reimbursed Reina Mercedes, Isabela Vice Mayor Jeryll Harold Respicio P28,011 for the cost of his drug test at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City.
Remulla sent the payment through GCash using an assistant’s account after previously promising to cover the test expenses.
Respicio confirmed receiving the payment after his drug test results showed he was negative for illegal drug use.
Remulla had challenged the vice mayor to undergo testing after criticizing his behavior during a municipal council session involving allegations against barangay captains over tobacco excise tax shares.
Remulla said he would leave it to Isabela Gov. Rodito Albano III to investigate Respicio’s corruption allegations against local officials.
