A Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) official testified before the Senate impeachment court that Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio, earned a combined net income of P85.3 million from 2007 to 2025.
The prosecution questioned how their reported earnings matched Duterte’s declared P98.6 million in conjugal assets in her 2025 statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN).
BIR records also showed that Duterte received legal fees in 2023 while serving as vice president, raising questions about possible violations of constitutional restrictions on practicing a profession.
Prosecution representatives further alleged that Duterte failed to declare bank deposits, insurance policies, and investments worth millions of pesos in her SALNs from 2022 to 2025.
The testimony forms part of the impeachment case involving allegations of unexplained wealth and inaccurate asset declarations, which Duterte’s defense has challenged.
