The Marikina City government has opened its annual back-to-school shoe bazaar to help students prepare for the June 8 opening of classes by providing affordable footwear and school essentials.
Led by Mayor Marjorie Ann Teodoro and 1st District Rep. Marcelino Teodoro, the event was launched at Marikina Freedom Park in partnership with the Philippine Footwear Federation Inc.
The bazaar features shoes, bags, and leather goods from 39 local manufacturers, highlighting Marikina’s long-standing reputation as the country’s “shoe capital.”
Mayor Teodoro said the initiative supports local shoemakers while making quality school supplies more accessible to families.
The event will run until June 21 as part of efforts to boost both education readiness and the local footwear industry.
