The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has officially declared that the voter registration deadline will not be extended, ending speculation about a possible cutoff adjustment.
Comelec spokesperson Atty. John Rex Laudiangco confirmed that registration closed on Monday, May 18, 2026, in preparation for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) set for November 2, 2026.
He said the strict deadline is necessary to allow time for essential post-registration activities such as application hearings, voters list posting, and precinct organization.
These steps, according to Comelec, are crucial to ensure that all voters are properly assigned and election preparations run smoothly.
The agency emphasized that adherence to the schedule will allow it to focus fully on administering the BSKE without delays or disruptions.
