An autopsy was conducted on the remains of former Public Works Undersecretary Catalina Cabral from 12:02 a.m. to 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, with her husband’s approval and in the presence of family lawyers.
The procedure aims to determine the true cause of her death after concerns about the initial handling of the investigation.
Benguet police chief Col. Lambert Suerte remained in his post for coordinating with Cabral’s family, while Tuba police chief Police Major Peter Camsol Jr. was relieved for allegedly mishandling the crime scene.
DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla cited failures in securing the scene and properly handling Cabral’s belongings, prompting the replacement of Camsol with Police Major Orville Wap.
Meanwhile, a circulating selfie of Cabral before her death has been flagged by her lawyer, Jesus Falcis, for removal from social media as it has not been verified.
