University of Santo Tomas (UST) secured its first win in the UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball tournament, defeating the University of the East (UE) in straight sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-19.
Jan Julian Macam led UST with 14 points, supported by Edlyn Paul Colinares and Jay Rack de la Noche, who each contributed 12 points.
Despite the absence of reigning MVP Josh Ybañez, UST quickly dispatched UE in just over an hour.
In the women’s division, UST also triumphed over UE in a four-set match, 28-26, 22-25, 25-23, 25-15, with Regina Jurado and Angge Poyos combining for 43 points.
UST’s next challenge will be against De La Salle University on February 26.
