Filipino singer Matty Juniosa, known as Matty J, earned a Golden Buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent Series 19 for his powerful rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain.”
He admitted he did extensive research on judge Simon Cowell and the other judges to better understand their tastes and audience expectations.
Matty, who previously competed on Philippine Idol in 2019, said he joined BGT to prove himself and showcase his talent on a global stage.
His preparation included studying videos of Cowell on American Idol and learning about the humor and preferences of judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and KSI.
The singer expressed his love for “Purple Rain” and said he was thrilled that his careful preparation helped him impress the judges and advance to the semi-finals.
