The UAAP has suspended University of the East head coach Chris Gavina for four games after his profanity-laced rant following UE’s narrow 111-110 loss to La Salle on October 15.
Gavina’s outburst came after an unsportsmanlike foul call on UE player Wello Lingolingo, which injured La Salle guard Kean Baclaan with a torn MCL.
The UAAP condemned Gavina’s unprofessional conduct, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and respect among coaches and student-athletes.
Lingolingo also received a three-game suspension for the foul.
UE remains winless after six games, with the league stressing its commitment to upholding integrity and camaraderie among all member universities.
