Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has approved the creation of the Quezon City Screen Commission through Ordinance No. SP-3382, S-2025, aiming to strengthen the city’s status as the Film and Entertainment Capital of the Philippines.
The ordinance, backed by several city councilors, establishes a unified framework to support local filmmakers, artists, and creative professionals.
The Commission will be chaired by the mayor and composed of both government officials and industry representatives, tasked with crafting policies, recommending legislation, and promoting screen-related initiatives.
A key feature of the ordinance is the establishment of a Film Permits Office to streamline production processes, standardize fees, and ensure inclusive community participation.
This move also supports the city’s bid to become a UNESCO Creative City of Film, marking a significant step toward a more vibrant and globally competitive local film industry.
