The proposed Livestock Development and Competitiveness Act, which aims to lower food prices and create more livelihood opportunities, is now awaiting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s approval.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez said the bill has been enrolled and transmitted to Malacañang for signing into law.
The measure focuses on boosting local production of pork, chicken, dairy, and eggs by supporting smallholder farmers and modernizing supply chains.
It also provides backyard raisers and livestock farmers access to credit, veterinary care, and infrastructure to improve their livelihoods.
Romualdez emphasized that the law will promote sustained rural development and job creation by empowering communities from the ground up.
