PhilHealth assured its members that coverage is available for heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke, dehydration, and heat exhaustion, especially amid rising temperatures this summer.
The state insurer said these conditions, along with other seasonal diseases, are covered under various benefit packages available in accredited hospitals to help reduce out-of-pocket expenses.
It also emphasized that emergency care services are covered under its outpatient emergency benefit package to ensure immediate treatment during urgent cases.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that heat index levels in several areas have reached dangerous levels, prompting public health precautions.
PhilHealth also highlighted additional benefits for other conditions, including seasonal diseases and hemophilia, as part of its expanded health coverage.
