Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan has urged President Marcos to certify four progressive bills as urgent to boost transparency, good governance, and anti-corruption efforts.
The measures include the Independent People’s Commission (IPC) Act, the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill, the Party-list System Reform Act, and the CADENA Act.
Pangilinan said urgent certification would increase the bills’ chances of enactment by allowing second and third readings on the same day.
He highlighted that the IPC Act, which he sponsors, was recently presented at the LEDAC meeting and was principally authored by Senate President Tito Sotto.
Malacañang, however, clarified that the President’s lack of urgent certification does not reflect a lack of commitment to passing the bills quickly.
