OPONG MOVES OVER WEST PHILIPPINE SEA; SIGNAL NO. 2 STILL RAISED IN 3 LUZON AREAS

Severe Tropical Storm Opong is currently over the West Philippine Sea, maintaining winds of 110 kph while moving west-northwest at 30 kph, the state weather bureau reported.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 remains in effect for three Luzon areas: western Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and the Calamian Islands. 

Signal No. 1 continues over parts of Luzon and the Visayas, including Metro Manila and several provinces. 

Opong is expected to possibly reintensify into a typhoon within 12 hours before exiting the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday.

Afterward, it is forecasted to head toward northern Vietnam.
