Legazpi City Mayor Geraldine Barrameda Rosal has stepped down from her position following a writ of execution order issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Rosal’s resignation was prompted by a one-year suspension ordered by the Office of the Ombudsman, which found her guilty of conduct prejudicial to the service.
Vice Mayor Bobby Cristobal has taken over as acting mayor, pledging that essential services will continue without disruption.
Meanwhile, Rosal and her husband, former Governor Noel Rosal, who was also dismissed and barred from public office, face strong support from their allies and supporters despite the controversy.
Councilor Johanna Valladolid and Board Member Vince Baltasar expressed disappointment over the political upheaval, emphasizing the progress and good governance achieved under the Rosals’ administration.
