MARCOS SEEKS STRONGER FISHERIES THROUGH MODERN FISH PORTS

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Agriculture to continue rehabilitating and modernizing fish ports nationwide to improve the fisheries sector and reduce post-harvest losses.

During his visit to the upgraded Sual Fish Port Complex in Pangasinan, he inspected new facilities, including fish processing and cold storage units, a multi-purpose pier, and improved access roads.

The government said the upgrades will expand market access for fishermen, increase handling capacity, and help ensure a stable supply of affordable fish.

After the inspection, Marcos met with Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources personnel whose vessels were recently subjected to water cannon attacks by the Chinese Coast Guard near Bajo de Masinloc.

The visit underscored the government’s support for Filipino fishermen and personnel safeguarding the country’s maritime interests.
