LACSON CALLS CABRAL’S DEATH TRAGIC, NOTES LOST OPPORTUNITY IN FLOOD CONTROL PROBE

Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson called the death of former DPWH undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral “tragic and unfortunate,” noting she could have greatly aided the flood control corruption probe.

Lacson, who chairs the Blue Ribbon Committee, said Cabral had shown willingness to cooperate and had met with him and his staff to discuss her potential testimony.

He expressed hope that she had left notes or files that could provide valuable evidence for ongoing investigations.

Lacson recalled that Cabral’s lawyer assured her trust in him, emphasizing his integrity as committee chair.

He concluded by mourning her loss and wishing her to rest in peace.
