Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said corruption will be the greatest test for leadership as the 2028 presidential race begins to take shape.
His remarks came after Vice President Sara Duterte announced her intention to run for president in May 2028.
Lacson, who has long fought corruption in government, stressed that graft remains the main obstacle to economic progress and national development.
He expressed hope for the country’s future as his own public service concludes in 2031, wishing candidates well in their campaigns.
Lacson also emphasized that every qualified Filipino has the right to run for office and offered his prayers for the intentions of Duterte and other potential contenders.
