The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was allocated P2.49 billion for flood control projects under the proposed 2026 national budget, covering all 18 regions of the country.
Major projects include flood control structures in Camanava, Manggahan, Agno, Iloilo, and the Lower Agusan, as well as river basin management, esteros improvement, and Manila Bay rehabilitation.
The DPWH budget was reduced from P880 billion to P529 billion, with no funding for new flood control projects amid an ongoing investigation into alleged anomalies.
The agency also received P8.5 billion for routine maintenance of national roads, with Eastern Visayas getting the largest share at P704.9 million.
The ratified 2026 budget has been submitted to President Marcos for review and signature.
