DSWD Secretary and former Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian has offered a P100,000 reward for information to identify the person who mutilated a dog named Kobe.
The dog went missing on December 9 after being startled by fireworks and was later found in Barangay Aratilis, Valenzuela City, with its tongue severed.
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) sought Gatchalian’s help in seeking justice for the abused animal.
Kobe is currently in a veterinary clinic in critical condition, though he is showing signs of recovery, with his tongue unable to be reattached.
Authorities and animal welfare advocates are urging the public to come forward with information to help catch the perpetrator.
