Acting Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo S. Duterte II confirmed that he and acting Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte are still waiting for the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to clarify their official positions.
The DILG has yet to issue a formal decision, as it awaits guidance from its central office in Quezon City.
Assistant Regional Director Charissa Guerta said the national office has requested input from the Commission on Elections before making an announcement.
The uncertainty follows a June 30 DILG directive for Mayor Duterte to assume city mayor functions under Section 46(a) of the Local Government Code.
The directive was meant to ensure governance continuity while former President Rodrigo Duterte remains in The Hague after the ICC denied his interim release.
