Special permits have been issued to other shipping lines to operate Aleson Shipping Lines (ALS) routes while its passenger fleet remains grounded due to an ongoing audit following the sinking of MV Trisha Kerstin 3.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) said only vessels that meet safety regulations will serve routes, including Zamboanga City to Isabela City, Siasi, Jolo, and Bongao, as well as Pulauan-Dapitan-Dumaguete and Dumaguete-Siquijor/Larena.
The DOTr also announced permits for a shipping line to operate the Zamboanga-Lamitan City route, while the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will provide free rides to stranded passengers, prioritizing senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and children.
The PCG has deployed BRP Capones to transport up to 80 registered passengers per trip, requiring valid identification.
MARINA Region 9 reported that no passengers are currently stranded at Zamboanga City Port, with about 50 travelers awaiting scheduled voyages aboard MV Prince Glory and MV Ever Queen of Asia.
