The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) launched its nationwide 24/7 “15/30” hotline, allowing workers and employers to report workplace violations and safety concerns by dialing 1-5-3-0. The hotline was introduced on November 3 as part of preparations for the expected El Niño, which could expose outdoor workers to extreme heat. Complaints will be forwarded to DOLE regional and field offices, with 20 agents initially assigned to handle calls. Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino urged the public to avoid prank calls and encouraged workers to report issues such as inadequate ventilation, lack of drinking water, and violations of heat-related labor advisories. Meanwhile, DOLE has issued heat-safety guidelines for delivery platforms, while the Employees’ Compensation Commission added five heat-related conditions that may qualify workers for benefits.
