DND, AFP ASSURE PUBLIC: COUP RUMORS ARE FALSE, STAY VIGILANT AGAINST FAKE NEWS

The Department of National Defense (DND) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have dismissed recent rumors of a coup plot involving Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro and the CIA as “preposterous” and “dangerous disinformation.”

The DND called the allegations a false attempt to sow discord and confusion among Filipinos.

The AFP warned the public against spreading the rumors, labeling them a malicious lie aimed at weakening the chain of command and creating division.

Both agencies reaffirmed their loyalty to the Constitution and urged citizens not to believe or share false claims.

The rumors surfaced on social media after recent protests against government corruption but have been strongly denied by officials.
