Film director Roman Perez Jr. is advocating for the creation of scriptwriting clinics to mentor young Filipino writers, especially following the success of the Blvck Entertainment Scriptwriting Contest 2024.
He noted that many amateur and regional scriptwriters could benefit from guidance before submitting their work.
Perez emphasized the need for regular workshops or seminars to nurture these talents, similar to practices in other countries.
The contest, which awarded cash prizes to the top three scripts, is expected to continue annually, with the winning script being made into a movie.
Perez also shared advice with aspiring writers, stressing the importance of research, exposure, and learning from various influences.
