Filipino boxer Carl Jammes Martin will face Mexican contender David Picasso in a 12-round super bantamweight bout on Oct. 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Canelo Alvarez-Christian Mbilli undercard.
The fight marks a major opportunity for the 28-year-old Ifugao native to prove himself against a top-level opponent and move closer to a world title shot.
Martin will put his unbeaten record of 28 wins, including 21 knockouts, on the line as the World Boxing Organization’s No. 1-ranked super bantamweight contender.
Picasso, who holds a 33-1-1 record, previously went the distance against undisputed champion Naoya Inoue in a title fight last December.
The Mexican returned to action in August, stopping compatriot Maicol Rincon in the second round, making the upcoming clash a key test for Martin’s title ambitions.
