President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has accepted the resignation of Henry Aguda as secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla announced.
Remulla confirmed the development on his radio show, “Executive Session,” on DZRH, days after Aguda said he would continue serving as DICT chief.
Aguda’s resignation came amid criticism of the department’s online platform policies, including its brief suspension of Discord over online safety concerns.
The DICT is also facing an Ombudsman investigation into an alleged “ghost internet” scheme involving potentially overpriced or undelivered government internet and information technology services.
The probe aims to determine whether contracted sites were operational, government payments were justified, and any irregularities or overpricing occurred.
