The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has begun deploying modular shelter units as a new standard for disaster housing.
These shelters are designed for faster installation while ensuring safety and dignity for families affected by earthquakes, fires, and typhoons.
Initial deployments have been completed in Cebu, Davao Oriental, and San Juan City, with units already housing displaced families.
The DHSUD plans to expand installations to other provinces, including Camarines Sur, Albay, Catanduanes, Negros Occidental, and Negros Oriental, pending inspections.
Beyond providing temporary homes, the program aims to include health clinics and learning centers, helping families recover and rebuild their lives.
