The Philippine Embassy in Portugal has not received any information on the whereabouts of former lawmaker Zaldy Co, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed.
Co, facing corruption charges over flood control projects, had his Philippine passport canceled on December 10 to prevent him from leaving the country.
While he is suspected to be in Portugal and possibly holds a Portuguese passport, the DFA cannot verify this, as foreign citizenship is not always reported to them.
DFA Spokesperson Angelica Escalona emphasized that any action abroad would require legal coordination with Philippine law enforcement agencies.
The government has urged Filipinos overseas to report sightings of Co to authorities.
