The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is investigating contractors involved in the reported earthballing of trees along Roxas Boulevard following public concerns raised on social media.
The probe will determine whether the tree relocation activities complied with environmental regulations and permit conditions.
DENR enforcement personnel have been deployed to inspect the site and verify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The agency warned that legal, administrative, and permit-related sanctions could be imposed if violations are found.
DENR also reiterated that urban trees are protected resources and that proper clearances and environmental protocols must be observed before any tree-related activity is undertaken.
