A joint venture between Data Lake Inc. and We Are IT Philippines, Inc. will provide satellite-based internet connectivity to 5,776 public schools nationwide under the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) PIALEOS project.
The initiative is part of the government’s push to expand the Free Wi-Fi for All Program and bring reliable internet access to Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Area (GIDA) schools.
The rollout uses Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology, including Starlink systems, supported by cloud-managed routers, Wi-Fi 6 access points, and complete infrastructure packages for stable connectivity.
As of April 2026, installations in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are already complete for 3,786 schools, with final deployments underway in the Bangsamoro region.
Officials said the project marks one of the country’s largest school connectivity efforts, aimed at strengthening digital learning and improving educational access nationwide.
