The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released new guidelines for digital election campaigns ahead of the 2025 national and local elections.
The guidelines, detailed in Resolution No. 11064, cover the use of social media, AI, and online platforms, while setting rules against disinformation and misinformation.
Candidates and parties must register their digital accounts with Comelec’s Education and Information Department by December 13, 2024.
The guidelines require transparency about AI use and mandate clear disclosures in all visual, audio, and audio-visual media.
Violations, including using fake accounts and deepfakes, will lead to disciplinary actions and investigations by Comelec’s Task Force KKK and other agencies.
