CAPAS TO PASIG: SC TRANSFERS GUO’S TRAFFICKING CASES

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has successfully obtained the Supreme Court’s approval to transfer the human trafficking case against former Bamban mayor Alice Guo and her associates from Capas, Tarlac to Pasig City.

DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla requested the transfer to ensure national interest and fairness, citing the high-profile nature of the cases and the need for a neutral venue to prevent local biases.

The Supreme Court agreed with Remulla’s request and ordered that all related files be moved from the Capas Regional Trial Court to the Pasig City RTC.

The charges involve Guo and her business partners, including Huang Zhiyang, alleged to be a key figure in illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators.

Remulla praised the Supreme Court’s decision, affirming the DOJ’s commitment to handling the cases with integrity and diligence.
