Local government units in Bacolod and Talisay City, Negros Occidental, distributed relief assistance to 2,443 families affected by floods caused by overnight heavy rains.
In Bacolod, 301 families from seven barangays were evacuated, receiving relief packs containing food, clothes, toiletries, and water containers.
Mayor Greg Gasataya confirmed that the Department of Social Welfare and Development also pledged support for the affected families.
In Talisay, around 2,142 families across 10 barangays were hit by floods, with Mayor Rowena Lizares leading relief efforts and health checks for evacuees.
The Talisay City health office also distributed doxycycline to prevent leptospirosis among residents affected by the flooding.
