Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Austria has rejected former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque’s asylum application, clearing the way for Philippine authorities to pursue his return once an Interpol Red Notice is issued.
Remulla said Roque, who is in Vienna, is facing a human trafficking case linked to the Lucky South 99 POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga.
He noted that legal and human rights procedures in Europe could still delay Roque’s repatriation.
Roque earlier confirmed that Dutch authorities had also denied his asylum application and appeal in the Netherlands.
Arrest warrants were issued against Roque and several others in 2025 over their alleged involvement in the human trafficking case.
