Senator Bam Aquino renewed his call for building more climate-resilient classrooms nationwide after inspecting flooded and damaged schools in Naga City.
At Julian B. Meliton Elementary School, Aquino found that nearly half of the classrooms are frequently flooded, with many declared unsafe but still in use due to shortages.
He emphasized the need to protect students from natural disasters by funding safer, climate-resilient school infrastructure.
Aquino recently filed Senate Bill No. 121, the Classroom-Building Acceleration Program (CAP) Act, aiming to address the national backlog of 166,000 classrooms.
The bill mandates LGUs and NGOs to build classrooms that meet national standards, with funding support from the national government.
