Filipina tennis star Alex Eala is set to lead the inaugural Philippine Women’s Open (PWO) from January 26-31 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila, marking her first home tournament.
She confirmed her participation after returning from the Australian Open, where she made history as the first Filipina to enter the WTA Top 50, currently ranked No. 44.
Eala will be joined by fellow Filipinas Stefi Aludo and Tenny Madis in a 32-player main draw that includes several top-ranked WTA players, making the event highly competitive.
Tickets for the tournament have already sold out, reflecting strong local support for Eala and the country’s growing presence on the women’s pro tennis circuit.
After the PWO, Eala will continue her 2026 season overseas, starting with the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open from February 1-7.
